Takachiho Gorge — formed as a result of an epic volcanic eruption almost 300,000 years ago! The beauty of this place is ethereal. Trying the nagashi somen here is a must! Find the people’s Ghibli backyard creations when driving from Miyazaki to Oita and make sure to stop and snap some photos. It’s free for anyone to swing by and check out! 3. Kumamoto is where you’ll find samurai castles and finding the One Piece life size statues if you’re a fan 🏴‍☠️ 4. Sakurajima in Kagoshima is Japan’s most active volcano which erupts hundreds of times a year 🌋 you can visit the island and take a tourist bus around it or even drive! This is the newest model of the Spacia trains by Tobu Railways and it is one HECK of an experience to travel in luxury like this. Nikko, in our opinion, is one of the best day trips from Tokyo and only 2 hours away.
