"ASWANG" This costume, in collaboration with Obra Grandiosa by Bryan Diego, is inspired by the 1992 @regalfilms50 film Aswang.. where my mother, Alma Moreno, played the lead role while pregnant with me. It was designed to reflect the aswang as a terrifying shape-shifter.. graceful and elegant at first glance, but deceptive and fearsome underneath. The look begins with a nod to the classic Filipiniana, then transforms into something darker and more sinister. Everything about this journey was so unexpected..a beautiful surprise I never thought would be mine. There were days I felt strong, and days when nerves and doubts hit me hard. And as a mom, people expect us to always be tough but I’ve learned that it’s just as important to be kind to ourselves, too. This was never just about a crown for me..
