🐾 Everyone, meet Tino! 🐾 We first met this sweet boy over 2 years ago while out doing TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return). He didn’t even wait for us to finish setting the trap, he walked right in like he knew he was coming home. Because he came so willingly, we knew right away that Tino wasn’t meant to be re-released. He’s a shy but gentle soul who LOVES other cats. He’s not aggressive at al, he just wants to snuggle, play, and be in a calm, loving home where he can be himself. Tino is still waiting for his forever family. If you have a kitty-friendly home and a soft spot for the shy ones, Tino might be the perfect match for you. 📍Located in San Bernardino, CA 📋 Apply to adopt by clicking the link in our bio! 🔗 @catsofsanbernardino Because shy cats deserve love too! @nike #Nike @YETI
We’ve started TNR on a brand new colony! This week, we trapped 5 kitties from a 40+ cat colony we just discovered. For anyone new here, here’s how TNR works and why we do it: ✅ All cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before being returned. ✅ They go right back to the exact location where they were caught. ✅ Each colony has dedicated caretakers who feed them daily, provide fresh water, and alert us if a cat ever needs medical attention. ✅ Microchips let us know if a cat ends up in harm’s way, if that happened, we’d deem the area unsafe for future returns. (So far, this has never happened!) These cats are NOT harming endangered wildlife. We’re in the middle of a very urban city, not a wildlife reserve. If anyone is worried about animals here, maybe start by asking why humans built a giant city in the middle of their habitat. These feral cats exist because of human negligence: people not spaying/neutering, or abandoning cats to live outside. Why not tame them all? These cats are feral, not socialized to humans, and taming every single one is unrealistic. In the time it takes to socialize one feral cat, we could save dozens of adoptable, friendly cats from shelters. TNR prevents suffering and saves lives. If you’re against TNR, please tell us what you’re doing to solve the feral cat crisis. And no… mass euthanasia doesn’t work. Huge thank you to Laurie & Jess for volunteering their time to help with this TNR project! #TNR #TrapNeuterReturn #SavingLives #CatRescue #CommunityCats #FeralCats
Dumped Mama and Kittens Update! We have been searching day and night for the past 2 days in hopes of finding the missing Mama. During that time we have rescued 3 friendly kitties. 2 kittens and one adult female (not the mom from the original dumping video). The couple had threatened to dump more cats at the same location. We believe these cats were more than likely also dumped by them. We were contacted by the director of the City Shelter today who informed us that they are in contact with the DA about pressing charges. We are hopeful that this will come to fruition. We have named the adult female kitty Valley. Valley is currently at our vet for a full health check and spay surgery. We are heading back out to continue the search for Mama and set more traps. Wish us luck! Please consider donating to help us continue our mission. We cannot do this without your support.
When we were out on Tuesday searching for the Dumped Desert Mama we came across these three sweet babies. We had gotten a flash flood warning and there was thunder and lightning so we were just planning to pack up our gear and go. These little nuggets had other plans though. They heard us and ran straight towards us. We were able to scoop up two pretty easily but the other little one hid and was scared 💔 Luckily with a little patience we were able to get him too. We have had traps all over this area and haven't caught any nursing mother cats, which is very disheartening, with the amount of kittens we have found. We have named these cuties Lluvia, Hail, and Lightning. They are still tiny but are doing well and are available for preadoption. If you're interested in adopting please fill out an adoption application by visiting the link in our bio @catsofsanbernardino
Keeping all the noise and light out of our restroom to protect our boy, Elton. He has been through hell already and the last thing we need is for him to go through PTSD with all the fireworks. Thank you Lara for donating his beds, blanket, and sound-blocking panels.
It has been a crazy couple of days searching for the Dumped Desert Cats and Kittens. We have gotten friendly cats and kittens every single day that we have gone out. This sweet kitten was spotted by Hena one of our volunteers on Monday. We were able to lure him out with food and he immediately leaned in for pets. We have reunited him with his siblings that we rescued on Sunday. These three cuties and Mama Valley are available for adoption! To adopt on our Desert Kitties please fill out an adoption application. They are all VERY sweet and will make amazing companions. We still have to introduce everyone to 8 more rescues! BRINGING THE TOTAL OF 13 NEW RESCUES IN THE PAST 6 DAYS! Please PLEASE consider donating to the Desert Cats and Kittens. We cannot do this without your support. We will be back our searching tonight at 6pm if anyone wants to join the efforts! Interested in fostering some of our new rescues? Please fill out a foster application by visiting the link in our bio @catsofsanbernardino
Remembering Spyro ❤️ This kitty's name was Spyro. She was a feisty, FIV+ girl that we rescued in 2022. She was a hospice kitty who ended up living out her golden years alongside Mama Creekside and Apollo in the catio. We’ve crossed paths with thousands of cats and kittens over the past several years, but the ones we lose always leave the deepest marks on our hearts. We miss you, beautiful girl. ❤️ Monthly donors are a crucial part of our rescue efforts. We have multiple long-term rescues receiving medical treatment, like Odyssey, Herakles, Valkyrie, and Gamble. We’re also working to socialize feral kitties like Luisa, Amy Rose, Wall, Toes, Tino, Supra, and Elvis—who came from tough situations and who we didn’t have the heart to return to the streets through TNR. We don’t talk about our long-term residents enough, but your monthly donations help care for them—along with all the adoptable cats and kittens currently in our care. If you aren’t a monthly donor, please consider becoming one to help us continue rescuing and caring for those who need it most.
We were contacted about a kitty that was shot with fireworks 💔 Multiple people saw him catch fire but weren't able to help because he's feral. He disappeared for a while but thankfully reappeared. We were contacted for help and rushed out to rescue him. Everyone Meet Elton. Elton is currently at our vet. Please consider donating to his medical bills and care.
New Rescue Alert! We almost missed the deadline to pull this girl 💔 She had a deadline of 4pm yesterday before she was set for euthanasia. We saw the email at 4:15 while we were out getting lunch. We emailed a pull Request immediately and then called to make sure she hadn't been put down. They extended her deadline to 2pm today to give us time to go in and get her. This poor gal is a senior and has the worst matted fur we have ever seen! The shelter tried to shave her down but weren't able to. The Matt on her back has to be 3 inches thick and runs the entire length of her body. She smells like urine because the area around her bottom is full of matts too. She is extremely underweight and frail. She is currently at our vet getting a full health checkup. We did ask them not to sedate her because of how weak she is. Because they won't be able to sedate they also won't be doing a medical shave. We ordered a $200 shaver that was recommended by our vet so that I can take time and slowly shave her down. We will have an update on her soon. We have named her Eleanor ❤️
Mermaid, our little miracle. Mermaid was just one day old when we rescued her and her brothers. So tiny. So delicate. We held her in the palm of our hands, not knowing the uphill battle she was about to face. Soon after, she developed a painful abscess on her neck and came down with aspiration pneumonia. She couldn’t breathe properly, couldn’t nurse, and started to fade. We rushed her into an oxygen chamber and began the exhausting routine of draining the abscess, administering antibiotics, giving subcutaneous fluids, and feeding her through a tube, because she was simply too weak to eat. She spent 278 hours, nearly 12 days, in that oxygen chamber, fighting with everything she had. And somehow, against all odds, she pulled through. Now, just two and a half months later, Mermaid is a picture of resilience. Her unique fever coat, a result of the severe stress her little body endured, is the only visible reminder of her fight for life. Everything else? Pure joy. Pure love. Pure kitten. Mermaid is proof that even the tiniest life can have a heart full of fight. We’re so proud of her. So in love with her. And so grateful we got to witness this tiny soul choose life. Mermaid, like many of our rescues, had a long and difficult road to recovery. 💔 She’s one of our many special needs cats who require long-term care, love, and support. Please consider becoming a monthly donor to help us continue caring for these resilient kitties who need extra time to heal. Your support makes miracles happen. Mermaid is officially available for adoption! We said goodbye to sweet Eleanor 💔 Kidney failure is such a harsh diagnosis. I can't believe she was out there for so long in such poor condition. Goodbye, beautiful girl. Say hi to all the special kitties up there. I'm sure they're all waiting for you. They knew you couldn't leave this horrible place, which wasn't kind to you, without finding us first. Although our hearts are shattered, we know you left knowing love, even if it was short-lived. You will be in our hearts, ALWAYS.
