Why I spent 2 years trying to print a middle finger After two years of trial and error, I finally turned a plastic water bottle into 3D printable filament — and successfully printed with it! From cutting the bottle into strips, feeding it through my homemade machine, dialing in the perfect temps, and battling with settings, I watched as my pulley spun and transformed trash into a roll of usable 1.7mm filament. The first thing I printed? A tiny middle-finger plant pot — because this journey deserved a sassy little win after everything it put me through. This is just the beginning. I'm going to share how you can build this machine yourself (It’s called the PETamentor2) — with a full parts list, wiring/parts guide, and setup instructions. The possibilities for recycling are endless, and I’m so pumped to keep going. DM me if you have questions — we’re in this together. ♻️✨
So after last week, I tried printing with this blue bottle and I CALL THIS PROGRESS (even though it makes me want to pull my hair out sometimes #trialanderror )
The first 2 butterflies hatched — and stayed with me all day like we were in a Disney movie! 🦋 Then I said goodbye to both of them and came home to 4 more that hatched! We still have another 5 with dark purple chrysalises JUST about to hatch! And I think I’ve found my new calling - placing butterflies on my face. Stay tuned to watch all of our 11 butterflies emerge and get released into nature!
