🇧🇷Pantanal jaguars are among the largest in the world. Adult males can weigh between 100 and 150 kg, while those from the Amazon rarely exceed 75 to 80 kg. This powerful build is no coincidence. The Pantanal offers a more open environment, filled with large prey like capybaras and caimans, demanding strength and strategy. This abundance of big prey supports the development of a more muscular and robust body. In contrast, the Amazon—with its dense vegetation and smaller prey—favors jaguars that are lighter, more discreet, and agile. It’s a natural adaptation to the challenges of hunting under a closed forest canopy. Even though they are the same species, Panthera onca adapts to the habitat it lives in. In the Pantanal, it reigns through size, strength, and its impressive ecological adaptation. 🐆
