This was the day I bought Ponyo—April 29, 2020. At that time, I was thinking of what I could give Camsie as a gift, and I immediately thought of a dog. A dog would take care of her and keep her company. Since I was far from Camsie, I wanted someone who could be there to watch over her. Then Toffie came into our lives—that was his first name, the name we both called him. On May 29, 2020, Ponpon was delivered to Camsie. He was still trembling, but when Camsie called his name, he calmed down. That moment marked the beginning of our little family. It was just the two of us, until Ponyo came and filled our lives with more love. He became part of our conversations, our everyday lives, and even our plans for the future. Since we were in a long-distance relationship, Ponyo became the one who stayed by Camsie’s side. When we argued, Ponyo comforted her. When she was sad, he sat quietly beside her. When she got sick, he watched over her. I had my reasons and purpose for gifting Ponyo to Camsie—and he fulfilled them all. All I ever wanted was for someone to be there with her. And Ponyo did just that. He brought so much joy into her life. Thank you, Pon, for loving Mama. I love you—and we love you so much.@Cameron Diaz
