Tomodachi is a new casual Japanese cafe and eatery in Cabramatta and I randomly popped in thanks to your recommendations after my video about the viral Japanese fried sandwiches at Age.3! What I ordered: Creme brulee agepan $9 Strawberry creme agepan $9 Wagyu beef sando $18 Wagyu miso udon carbonara $20 A lot of people love Age.3 because they use Tokyo cream which has a bit of a more complex flavour and stable texture compared to regular whipped cream which is why when you see it in the fried sandwich it always looks picture perfect and doesn’t slip or slide until you bite into it. This cream is used at the base of all their sandwiches (except for savoury ones) and it’s just the topping that changes. Which is their signature and I think that goes well with their fried sandwich which is already very rich. The agepan from Tomodachi is different. The creme brulee doesn’t have cream underneath, it’s the creme brulee custard all throughout which a sweet tooth would love but I would say it’s on the sweet and decadent side. May be heavy for some. The strawberry creme is filled with whipped cream which is a different texture from Tokyo cream, it’s probably close to the consistency of mascarpone cream and it’s very light and velvety. I thought it was really nice! There’s some streaks of strawberry jam in there and fresh strawberries on top so it has a bit of fruitiness to it, I loved this one. Wagyu Sando was nice but even better when I put the fries inside 😆 needed a bit of crunch! Wagyu miso udon carbonara was surprisingly very moreish, if you’re a fan of creamy white sauce base you’ll love this.
