Getting excited about SPRING! It is too early to plant but dave this recipe so you are ready when it is time to plant. 🌿⛅️🌸 Great shade combo- impatiens, caladiums, autumn ferns #garden #spring #flowers
Instead of a boxwood or another bush, you can use containers to help anchor a space or a garden bed! The trick to making it work? When selecting your vessels, pick three—one small, one medium, and one large, all in the same shape and material. Use trailing ‘Cora Cascade Polka Dot’ vincas as the base for all the containers. In the second vessel, use White Delight’ caladiums and ‘Lemon Twist’ plectranthus for height. In the biggest pot, complement those same plants with ‘Kimberly Queen’ ferns, ‘Peppermint’ strap-leaf caladiums, and creeping Jenny for a dose of warm, summery color. They can take the intense heat and full sun.
Key tips to prevent wilting: Cut in the morning…When the plant is fully hydrated but if I need them I cut them whenever 💙 Use a clean, sharp pair of cutters to cut the stem and a veggie peeler to strike all four sides…allows the water to soak up more Dip stem ends in alum (you can buy in the spice aisle) this prevents the stem from sealing off, improves water uptake. Alum is acidic and astringent and it stops the sap from clogging up the stem. When the vessels are opened up, the flower head stays plump and hydrated longer 💙 Submerge blooms in water….if wilting occurs, soak the entire bloom in water for several hours to rehydrate…I will often do this overnight! #garden #hydrangeas
