It might sound like a terrifying scene from an apocalyptic science-fiction film. But the world's space agencies have now made a rare emergency decision as the chances of Earth being hit by a 'city-killer asteroid' rise. As the risk increases, an international team of astronomers has been granted use of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) to determine how much damage the asteroid would cause. The best estimates currently suggest the asteroid is up to 90m (300 ft) wide. That would make it around the same size as New York's Statue of Liberty or London's Big Ben. #asteroid #nasa #armageddon

The horrifying remains were discovered inside the trunk of a deserted car in San Jose Miahuatlan - 175 miles from Mexico City. Five of the nine mutilated bodies were found underneath a blood-soaked tarp, while the remaining four were found contorted inside the trunk in what is believed to be yet another savage cartel killing. Authorities also discovered at the revolting scene that each person had their hands chopped off and stuffed in a bag. The family onboard a helicopter that plummeted into the Hudson River had only arrived in New York City on the same day they were killed. Agustín Escobar, the president of the Spanish branch of the technology company Siemens, his wife, Merce Camprubi Montal, and their children - aged four, five, and 11 years old - were all killed in the tragic crash alongside the pilot, aged 36. The chopper was seen crashing into the Hudson River, closer to the New Jersey side, at around 3.15pm. Witnesses say they saw the chopper 'split in half' before it went down near Pier 40. One man described the sound from the aircraft like a 'sonic boom.' Heartbreaking photos showed the family grinning from ear to ear as they prepared to board the chopper and tour the city skies. The helicopter was only in the air for 16 minutes after it took off from the Wall Street Heliport and circled near the Statue of Liberty before it plunged into the water. 🎥 NY helicopter tours LLC #helicopter #NYC #crash #family #rip #sad #hudsonriver #pilot

A Nevada mother has warned of the dangers of e-cigarettes after her 17-year-old cheerleader daughter developed a rare, life-long lung condition linked to vaping. Brianne Cullen started using disposable vapes at 14 to cope with anxiety after the COVID-19 lockdown. Four months ago, she suddenly struggled to breathe and was rushed to the ER. Doctors diagnosed her with bronchiolitis obliterans, or ‘popcorn lung’ — a serious disease that scars the lungs' smallest airways. Steroids and an inhaler can reduce inflammation and help with breathing, but in severe cases, a lung transplant may be required. Sufferers require life-long care to manage their symptoms and are advised to avoid air pollution, cigarette smoke and people who are unwell, who could pass on infections.
