A woman in Segamat, Johor, was left heartbroken after discovering her pet cat bloodied and stuffed into a drain — with her elderly neighbour caught in the act. In a viral Facebook post on 14 May, the woman known as Kak Yong said her cat, Manis, had gone missing from her cage that morning. While searching, she spotted her neighbour behaving suspiciously near a drain. "I saw the old man next door poking something down into the drain, trying to push it deeper," she wrote. When she looked closer, that's when she found her cat, bloody and abused. Segamat police have since arrested the 70-year-old man, who admitted to abusing the cat because he was “annoyed by it”. A boat carrying 89 passengers capsized off the coast of Nusa Lembongan, Bali on 4 June after being struck by a strong wave. The vessel, named Tanis, was preparing to depart for Sanur when the wave hit, causing panic as water rushed in. Some passengers broke open windows to escape, while others jumped into the sea. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported. Locals and nearby boats responded quickly to assist in the rescue. Israel has released a video showing its forces handing out sandwiches and water to international activists who were arrested after their ship, the Madleen, was intercepted on its way to Gaza. The vessel, part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, was around 160km from Gaza when it was stopped. Armed Israeli forces boarded the ship, ordered the crew to throw their phones into the sea, and cut off all communication. The activists were trying to deliver much-needed aid and medical supplies to besieged Palestinians in Gaza.
