Decluttered more of Anna’s closet today. Today was mostly stuffed animals and some figurines. I didn’t have a ton of time today so I did something that wouldn’t take too long! I found some of my old stuffed animals from when I was a kid that I gave to the girls! It made me a little emotional and giving them a good hug felt so comforting. I was able to declutter a handful of baby items that the girls no longer need and I don’t feel a need to hold onto either. I had two bags going- one was for trash which is just broken things or things missing pieces and the other for donations. I try to donate as much as I can when I’m decluttering! Not only am I glad to be able to help others out, it also helps me feel better knowing things are going to be used by someone! Decluttered the first part of Anna’s closet today! This closet is so full right now and so much of it, we aren’t even currently using. We have stored so much baby stuff in here that she’s completely outgrown so I’m really excited to make more room for things she currently uses in here. I was really focused on decluttering toys today, especially before Christmas time! We will be donating everything we can that is in good shape and I ended up with a whole bag to donate! I was able to leave some empty space too so when she gets new things for Christmas, it will be easy to give them a home! There were a few things I checked with her on to be sure it was okay to donate and there were some I knew were not being used and could go. I’m planning to work through her closet in small sections each day. Decluttered our shoe closet! This space has been so hard to keep organized. For a while the bins on top of the shoe shelf worked for our girls’ shoes, but it just hasn’t been working lately. The shoes just keep piling up in the center of the closet. Both of the girls recently switched shoe sizes so I had a handful that needed to go. And I had a few pairs that I was hanging on to that were in such bad shape so I got rid of them! I could not be more excited for this new shoe shelf! This closet just wasn’t big enough for much of a storage shelf so I needed something that didn’t take up much space. This one is narrow but fits so many shoes! Our home may not be as big as I wish it was, but I’m so thankful for it and I’m really trying to make the best use of our space. I’m in a constant state of decluttering and finding better ways to organize our home so we can keep our home functioning well. I have been trying to add better storage to different rooms like floating shelves in smaller spaces like our bathroom. We had zero storage in here before so by adding these shelves, I’m able to store some things in here that had been taking room under our bathroom counter. Decluttering before Christmas makes such a difference for our family! I try to do this every year so we will really be able to enjoy all of the holidays and not just be overwhelmed by too much stuff. I’m working my way through Anna’s closet and her room right now. I’m also planning to do Emily’s room, my kitchen, and hopefully a few other spaces before Christmas. Decluttered more in Anna’s closet. I mostly focused on linens and blankets but also went through a few baskets that had baby things in it. One of them was all baby bows and baby socks. It was so hard to get through! I’m so attached to so many of them. I definitely kept a number of bows and a handful of the sweet little socks to put in my girls’ memory boxes. I decluttered some sheets, blankets, and mattress protectors we had! I also packed away some sleep sacks and pack n’ play sheets just in case we need them down the road. I wanted to clear off some of the shelf space because I want to put a box of books on this shelf too. So I was able to get everything down to just half of the shelf instead of the whole thing. As I was deciding what I wanted to declutter before Christmas this year, I knew Anna’s closet had to happen. We have so much baby stuff that we’ve been storing in here for a lack of a better place to store it. But I wanted her to have more space for things she’s currently using. And I love having a toy rotation system in both of the girls’ rooms so I really needed to have more space and a better organization system set up for her. Decluttering in small sections, only doing a little bit every day has made the biggest difference for me! It keeps me from getting overwhelmed and motivated to keep working through each space. Now that both sections on the bottom of her closet are finished, Anna walked in and was so excited to be able to see all of her toys.
