My mermaid friend called me on my shell phone to explore an underwater treasure trove of pearls… but when I arrived, the ocean floor wasn’t covered in pearls—it was littered with golf balls. ⛳🌊 Did you know that over 300 million golf balls are lost every year in the U.S. alone? Many end up in the ocean, where they slowly break down, releasing toxic chemicals and microplastics that harm marine life. Golf balls are made of synthetic rubber, plastic, and heavy metals like zinc, which can leach into the water and poison fish, coral reefs, and other marine creatures. Some even break apart into tiny plastic particles that get eaten by sea life—and eventually, by us.
