DAY TWO of my 2024 fall lawn renovation was spent shoveling a giant pile of dirt!! I got 6 yards of screened topsoil to spread over the lawn this year. I’m using it to start trying to get the lawn more level and smoothed out! Took us all day but we got the dirt on the lawn ins million little piles. Now we are ready to use a tow-behind drag and spread this dirt around until it’s worked into the lawn filling in low areas and smoothing out the bumpy ones!! #LawnDad #DIYlawncare #TopDressing #LawnRenovation #SpreadingDirt #GreenGrass #Yardwork

Started DAY THREE of my 2024 fall lawn renovation early. I knew it was going to be a long day getting this project wrapped up. So I got outside and started knocking down these dirt piles. My final step before seeding is some heavy core aeration with this Stinger! I was flying all over the place but still made sure to hit my trouble areas the most! While the aerator took some getting used to, it really did a great job punching holes in my lawn… And I gave the lawn a heavy treatment. Spent an hour going over the front and backyard, spending most the time on my main front lawn tho. Ended up going over the lawn five times to clear the turf and get ready for topdressing. This @RYOBI Tools USA dethacher is a little champ, pulling up so much thick and matted down grass that needed to get out of there! Worked great to open things up so we get better seed-to-soil contact! I finally got to experience some ZERO TURN fun in my lawn!! Not cutting grass tho… Spent almost an hour running my @Landzie tow-behind drag level across the lawn. Working the topsoil into the grass to start filling in the low spots before seeding. Using this drag was so much easier and way more fun than trying to spread and work all this dirt by hand! Better to ask forgiveness than permission sometimes… I’m betting the functionality and accessibility of mounting a house reel out front will make up for having a post right next to out entryway. It’s finally time to throw down some grass seed and bring the lawn back to life! I’m in the Midwest and tall fescue has a long growing season out here, so that’s what I’ll be using again. This will be my third year overseeding in the fall. Hopefully improving a little more and looking better every spring!
