I’m curious to know how this is aged. I posted this two years ago today and I’d still love to know your thoughts. Is it easier for you to find help with your menopause now versus two years ago? #WomensHealth #menopause #perimenopause
My Menopause Routine: What Keeps Me Thriving Through the Transition Navigating menopause requires a comprehensive approach, and I’ve built a routine that supports my health across multiple areas: 1️⃣ Pharmacology: I work closely with my healthcare provider to ensure my hormones are optimized. Hormone therapy has been a game-changer for managing symptoms like hot flashes, sleep disturbances, and bone health. 2️⃣ Supplements: My daily lineup includes omega-3s, vitamin D, vitamin K, magnesium L-threonate, creatine, fiber, a probiotic, and collagen for skin, muscle, and bone support. Each plays a specific role in addressing menopause-related changes, from bone density to muscle mass and gut health. 3️⃣ Exercise: Strength training is non-negotiable. It helps combat muscle loss, improves metabolism, and supports bone density. I pair it with regular cardio to maintain heart health and overall endurance. 4️⃣ Stress Reduction: Chronic stress exacerbates menopause symptoms, so I prioritize mindfulness, deep breathing, and moments of daily self-care. Stress management also reduces cortisol levels, which can contribute to visceral fat accumulation. 5️⃣ Sleep Optimization: Quality sleep is essential for recovery and hormone regulation. I stick to a bedtime routine, use magnesium L-threonate, and create a sleep-friendly environment to ensure I wake up refreshed. Menopause is a whole-body transition, and understanding the science behind these changes has empowered me to thrive. This is what works for me—what’s your routine? 📥 If you want to learn more about navigating menopause, check out my book The New Menopause and the supplements I created at the link in my bio! #menopause #menopausesupport #womenshealth #hormonehealth #healthyaging #wellnessjourney #strongwomen #midlifewomen #exercise #nutrition #stressmanagement #sleepoptimization #sciencebacked #thepauselife
🌿 Estradiol & Longevity: A Scientific Case for Hormone Replacement Therapy A groundbreaking study leveraging data from the UK Biobank (UKBB) has revealed a stark reality: while many prescription drugs are linked to higher mortality rates, a select few are associated with longer lifespans. Among them? Estradiol—a key hormone in menopause therapy that has long been debated, misunderstood, and underutilized. 🔬 What the Study Found Researchers analyzed the effects of multiple prescription medications on survival probability. As expected, many commonly prescribed drugs, including: ❌ Opioids (e.g., morphine) ❌ Diuretics (e.g., furosemide) ❌ Painkillers (e.g., paracetamol) ❌ Respiratory medications (e.g., tiotropium for COPD) were associated with increased mortality rates. However, 14 drugs were identified as having a protective effect—prolonging life compared to matched controls. Among these were: ✔️ Atorvastatin (a cholesterol-lowering statin) ✔️ Naproxen (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) ✔️ Sildenafil (a PDE5 inhibitor commonly known as Viagra) ✔️ Estradiol (a key estrogen in hormone therapy for menopause) 💡 Why Estradiol Matters for Longevity While cardiovascular benefits of statins and the vasoprotective effects of PDE5 inhibitors have been well-documented, estradiol’s link to lifespan extension adds to the growing body of evidence that menopause hormone therapy (MHT) is about more than just symptom relief. 1️⃣ Cardiovascular Protection: Estrogen has a vasodilatory, anti-inflammatory, and lipid-lowering effect—reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), the #1 killer of postmenopausal women. Research shows that women who initiate estradiol therapy early in menopause experience a reduced risk of CVD and improved vascular function. 2️⃣ Brain Health & Dementia Risk: Studies suggest estradiol plays a neuroprotective role, reducing Alzheimer’s disease risk and cognitive decline. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has been associated with better memory, executive function, and delayed onset of neurodegenerative diseases—a potential reason why some women on estradiol show better survival outcomes. 3️⃣ Metabolic Benefits & Insulin Sensitivity: Menopause is associated with increased visceral fat, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome, all of which contribute to higher mortality risk. Estradiol helps regulate glucose metabolism, reduce fat accumulation, and improve insulin sensitivity, potentially reducing risks of diabetes, obesity-related conditions, and NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease). 4️⃣ Bone Health & Fracture Risk Reduction: Osteoporotic fractures—particularly hip fractures—are a leading cause of disability and premature death in older women. Estrogen therapy preserves bone mineral density (BMD) and dramatically reduces fracture risk, helping women maintain mobility and independence longer. ⚖️ What About the Risks? The conversation around estradiol and longevity is often overshadowed by concerns about breast cancer risk. However, recent research has challenged old fears, particularly when using bioidentical estradiol formulations with appropriate progesterone therapy. Many studies suggest that for most women, the benefits outweigh the risks, especially when therapy is started within 10 years of menopause. 🧠 A Paradigm Shift in Women’s Health For decades, menopause has been treated as a natural but inevitable decline, with HRT viewed as optional symptom management rather than a critical intervention for long-term health and longevity. This new study reinforces the idea that estradiol is more than a "menopause drug"—it is a key player in extending lifespan and protecting against chronic disease. 🔗 Time to Rethink the Standard Approach With studies like this challenging old assumptions, the question is clear: Are we overlooking one of the most powerful longevity interventions available to women? 💬 Let’s discuss!👇 #Menopause #HRT #greenscreen
Low fiber intake isn’t just about digestion—it can have serious effects on your mental and physical health. A recent study found that low fiber intake is linked to an increased risk of moderate to severe depression. 🧠💔 And that’s not all: other studies show fiber is tied to better cognitive function in older adults and a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease. Here’s why: Fiber feeds your gut microbiome, which plays a key role in producing neurotransmitters like serotonin that regulate mood. It also helps lower inflammation and improve metabolic health, both of which are connected to mental health and brain function. The science is clear—fiber is a game changer for your overall well-being. Most people aren’t getting the recommended 25-30 grams per day, but the good news is, you can start small and build up. Begin tracking your fiber intake and adding more fiber-rich foods to your meals. Some great options include: 🥦 Broccoli 🍓 Berries 🌰 Chia seeds and flaxseeds 🥜 Lentils, chickpeas, and beans 🍠 Sweet potatoes 🍏 Apples (leave the skin on!) 🌾 Whole grains like oats, quinoa, and brown rice These small dietary changes can make a big difference for your mental clarity, mood, heart health, and longevity. Let’s prioritize this often-overlooked nutrient and fuel our bodies and minds for a healthier future. 💪 #FiberForHealth #MentalHealthMatters #GutBrainConnection #CognitiveHealth #HeartHealth #NutritionScience #HealthyLiving #menopause #perimenopause #thenewmenopause

@Mark Cuban has criticized the broader pharmaceutical and healthcare industry’s structure, particularly the roles of Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) and the potential conflicts of interest that arise when companies control multiple facets of the supply chain. His concerns include: 1. Lack of Transparency: Cuban often points out that PBMs and pharmaceutical companies operate with a lack of transparency in pricing, making it difficult for patients to understand why their medications cost so much. 2. Conflicts of Interest: When organizations control both the insurance and pharmacy services (or multiple layers of the supply chain), Cuban believes this creates a system that prioritizes profit over patient care. He views this as inherently problematic and potentially exploitative. 3. Inflated Costs: Cuban has highlighted how the involvement of intermediaries, like PBMs, often leads to inflated drug prices, benefiting corporations rather than patients. 4. The Need for Disruption: Through his Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company, he seeks to eliminate intermediaries and provide medications at a flat 15% markup above manufacturing costs, ensuring that pricing is fair and transparent. #markcuban
Yes, the drop in estrogen during menopause is a natural process—but so are many other processes that lead to suffering or disease, and we treat those without hesitation. We replace thyroid hormone, insulin, testosterone for men—so why is it that when it comes to women, we’re expected to endure the symptoms, suffer in silence, and ‘just deal with it’? Menopause is not a time to accept poor health or unnecessary suffering. Replacing estrogen when appropriate should be no different than treating any other condition. Women deserve better. #MenopauseHealth #EstrogenMatters #HormoneTherapy #StopTheStigma
